Radio Television and Film
Our international student body has found their preparation in the RTVF program, both scholarly and professionally, to provide a solid foundation for successful entry into media markets in Cyprus, the Mediterranean region and internationally. The program also provides a firm foundation for post-graduate level work in communication and media studies. Students of RTVF have access to DAU TV, our university television station, video production facilities, video field equipment, master control, editing facilities, campus radio station, and the possibility of engaging with the local broadcast media through internship programs. Graduates of the Public Relations & Advertising (PRA) acquire the theoretical foundations and professional skills to work in either Public Relations or Advertising sectors. The aim of the program is to produce open-minded and creative problem-solvers: Individuals who are informed and take a holistic view of their discipline. Taking into consideration the great interest to sports by masses and relatively high interest to the new concept of peace-journalism by the academicians and practitioners, free elective courses were introduced to the curriculum on these topics.Taking the needs of a modern journalist into consideration, the Department has added core courses such as “Newspaper Design” on computer and “Online Journalism” to the new curriculum. Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design
The intention of the Department is to provide a curriculum of core courses and general education courses that develop the students’ creative and technical skills as well as design, and broaden the horizon of our graduates through these theoretical, ethical, and critical perspectives. A distinctive feature of the Department will be to prepare future professionals who have the advantage of an education in a multi-cultural and inter-disciplinary academic environment that enables them not only to use all the new communication technologies in artistic and creative ways, but to use them responsibly and intelligently.
