EMU Communication Faculty Highlights World Human Rights Day

Eastern Mediterranean University, Communication Faculty is getting ready to celebrate World Human Rights Day through various activities. Similar to last year, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on 10 December 2014, the Faculty is planning to host various events organised by Communication Faculty, Radio, Television, Cinema and Journalism Department and Community Involvement Center.

The activities will commence with a tree decoration and poster painting activity marking the first, second and third generation human rights. During the activity which will be carried out by students, EMU Education Faculty, Fine Arts Education Department, Music Teaching Program students will be giving a mini concert entitled "The Right to Sing Songs".

Similar to last year, the faculty will also be hosting a country. This year's guest is Kazakhstan. Communication Faculty postgraduate student Gülsaya Kaisagalieva will be delivering a presentation about the situation of human rights in Kazakhstan.

One of the main themes of this year's activities is immigration and displacement. Within the framework of the theme, Communication Faculty PhD student and research assistant Engin Aluç will contribute to the day with his poetry.

Within the framework of the day, two talk sessions will take place. Osmangazi University Architecture Faculty academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Levent Şentürk will be talking about, "Kuir and Site" and Tegiye Birey from Refugee Rights Association will be giving a presentation entitled "What Would You Do If It Was You?". Students and other participants will be taking photos with their self-prepared posters, which will later be shared through social media. During the day, short films and animations will be screened at various studios of the Communication Faculty. The events will end with a documentary screening entitled "The Shelter".
